Sentul OCPD: Police to deploy mobile station near Najib’s Langgak Duta residence from tomorrow; Prisons Dept to handle monitoring

KUALA LUMPUR: A mobile police station will be established near former prime minister Najib Razak's residence in Langgak Duta, Kuala Lumpur, starting tomorrow to assist with security arrangements for his transfer from prison to his home. Police chief Anuar Bakri Salam clarified that the mobile station is not meant for 24-hour surveillance but to manage media, neighbors, and traffic during his return.

Anuar stated that the residence has not been officially designated as Najib's house arrest location, as confirmation is still pending. The prisons department, he said, would oversee his house arrest, with four officers having inspected the residence on the previous day. The police deployment will consist of one supervisor, two personnel, and a mobile patrol vehicle unit, aiming to ensure the safety of media and prevent traffic congestion.

Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar hinted at standard operating procedures for Najib's house arrest, including visits, security, and movement monitoring following receipt of the official letter. Najib, 73, received a conditional pardon from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, allowing him to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, provided he pays his RM50 million fine and adheres to other conditions.
