SNAPSHOT | Cops to deploy mobile station outside Najib's house in case of release; Sanusi mocks Loke's resignation offer

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 — From tomorrow, a mobile police station will be stationed near former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's official residence in Langgak Duta to aid security arrangements during his potential transfer from prison to the residence. Sentul district police chief ACP Anuar Bakri Abdul Salam announced that the mobile police station will take up position at 7am, stating it is not meant for round-the-clock surveillance of Najib, but rather to secure his return process, as well as to manage local and foreign media, neighbouring residents, and potential supporters.

When asked about the residence being selected for Najib's house arrest, Anuar Bakri could not confirm the information as he had not received any official confirmation, adding that it was possible that other residences belonging to him might also be considered. The Malaysian Prisons Department is set to handle Najib's monitoring if he completes his sentence under house arrest, rather than the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), with four Prisons Department officers having visited the residence for an inspection and assessment the day before.

Anuar Bakri informed that the PDRM will facilitate Najib's movement and guarantee the safety of the media during the process. The police deployment will consist of one supervisor, two personnel, and a mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit. On Friday, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim consented to a conditional pardon, allowing Najib to serve his remaining sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, provided he pays a RM50 million fine.
