NDC disowns presidential campaign council of Obi/Kwankwaso movement, warns support groups

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has distanced itself from the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) established by the OK Movement in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. The party also cautioned support groups against undermining or segregating the party, expressing gratitude for their assistance and welcoming additional support groups that align with its objectives.

National Chairman Cleopas Moses disclosed these details in a statement released on Saturday, clarifying that the declaration made by John Ugulu was unauthorized and did not originate from the party. The NDC emphasized that no individual or group has the authority to announce, create, or publish any campaign structure or organization under the party's name without the approval of the National Working Committee (NWC).

The party's statement highlighted its concern over a publication attributed to John Ugulu announcing the PCC under the OK Movement's banner. It unequivocally dissociated itself from the OK Movement PCC announcement, stating that it never originated from the party and should be disregarded by the public and media. The NDC emphasized that all party candidates must recognize they are not running as independent candidates but are part of the party, subject to its authority and discipline.

Consequently, only the party's leadership can establish and announce a PCC. No member, candidate, or support group should undermine the party or create party divisions. The NDC recognized and deeply appreciated the contributions of all support groups, encouraging their continued support and welcoming more groups that share its mission to rescue Nigeria.

While the party would continue to collaborate with all support groups, they should not view themselves as alternative party structures or parallel organs of the party.
