2 Killed, Several Injured In Electrocution Near Ganpati Pandal In Mumbai's Lalbaug

Mumbai, September 20: A tragic electrocution incident near a Ganapati pandal in the Lalbaug area claimed the lives of two individuals, including an eight-year-old girl, and left several others injured on early Sunday morning. The incident unfolded around 2:20 am near the Kalachowki Vibhag Sarvajanik Ustav Mandal on Dattaram Lad Marg in Kalachowki, amidst the bustling crowds during the Ganapati festival.

The unfortunate event was promptly reported to the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) at 2.42 am, prompting the rapid deployment of personnel from the fire brigade, police, BEST, and the civic ward office to the scene.

Injured individuals were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention. Masina Hospital in Byculla received five of the injured, while others were whisked away to Global Hospital in Parel. Upon arrival at Masina Hospital, eight-year-old Raghni Ghanshyam Yadav was pronounced dead. Kiran Akbar Naik, Tanvi Narsh Hande, Sahil Sandip Tare, and Ruhi Singh, all aged 19 and 12 respectively, are currently under treatment, their conditions still being assessed.

Later reports confirmed a second death, with a woman at Global Hospital succumbing to her injuries, though further details on her identity and circumstances await confirmation.
