Wanita DAP Demands Full Disclosure of Lembaga Pengampunan Meeting Minutes

PETALING JAYA: The Wanita DAP, led by Teo Nie Ching, is urging the government to disclose the official minutes of the recent Lembaga Pengampunan (Truth and Reconciliation) meeting where Najib Razak's conditional pardon was decided. Teo stated that the people have the right to receive a complete explanation regarding the considerations and process leading to the decision. Her remarks came after the Executive Committee meeting of DAP, which lasted three hours on the evening of the day.

Following the meeting, Loke Siew Fook, the Deputy General Secretary, announced his resignation from the position of Transport Minister in response to the conditional pardon decision for Najib. Teo emphasized that Loke's decision was not made lightly. "His boldness and wisdom in making a decisive move at this crucial juncture demonstrate his qualities as a leader, while upholding the principles of DAP's longstanding stance on this issue," she said.

Earlier, Loke defended his position as the sole leader willing to step down from his post following the conditional pardon to ensure political stability. Najib, 73, has been granted the opportunity to serve the remaining six years of his six-year prison sentence while serving his time at home. The only condition is that he must pay a RM50 million fine or face an additional year in prison if he fails to comply.

The Prime Minister's Office clarified that the conditional pardon was approved by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, after the meeting of the Federal Territory Lembaga Pengampunan.
