Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi stated that the relationship between the unity government parties remained good despite the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Najib Razak by Agong. Speaking at a media briefing, Zahid, who is also the president of Umno, noted that managing the state's affairs requires all parties to act professionally, in accordance with the collective decision-making of the Cabinet.

"Our personal relations are fine, thank God, and as a member of the unity government, we strictly uphold the principle of strictness as long as we remain within the realm of the unity government," he said. On Saturday, the Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, graciously granted Najib conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remaining portion of his sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028.

According to the Department of Legal Affairs (BHEUU) under the Prime Minister's Office, the conditional pardon was decided by the 64th Meeting of the Conditional Pardon Body for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya in Istana Negara. This decision involved paying a fine of RM50 million and fulfilling the specified conditions.

Zahid, who is also the chairman of Barisan Nasional (BN), affirmed that the conditional pardon granted by the Agong is bound by the provisions in the Constitution of Malaysia. "What was decided by the conditional pardon body, as decided by the Agong, is a decision that is bound by certain clauses within the Malaysian Constitution, and of course, Tuanku has taken into account the jurisprudence as a guideline for the pardon decision.

"If any party challenges the Agong's decision, it means it does not align with the provisions written in the Constitution, and Umno and BN themselves are of the view that the law must be adhered to. This stance is clear as statements I have made previously," he added.
