Vice Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi affirmed that relations between the coalition government parties remained amicable following the intercession of former Prime Minister Najib Razak by the Intercession Body. In Jakarta, Zahid, who also serves as Umno president, stated that while managing government affairs, all parties act professionally and decisions made by the Ministerial Council are collective.

"Our personal relations continue to be good, and despite being politicians, we act professionally in managing government affairs, and there is no issue as all decisions made by the Ministerial Council are collective decisions," he said at a media briefing today. On Saturday, the Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, graciously granted Najib intercession, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence conditionally at home until August 23, 2028.

According to the Legal Aid Department (BHEUU) of the Prime Minister's Office, the conditional intercession was decided at the 64th Meeting of the Intercession Body for Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya at Istana Negara, which includes payment of a RM50 million fine and compliance with certain conditions. Zahid, who also heads Barisan Nasional (BN), said that the intercession body's decision on Najib is bound by provisions in the Constitution.

"What was decided by the Intercession Body, and what the Agong decided, is a decision subject to certain clauses in the Malaysian Constitution, and certainly Tuanku has taken into account the statutory factor as the guiding principle for the intercession decision," he said. Zahid added that any party challenging the Agong's decision would be in contradiction with the provisions in the Constitution, and Umno and BN stand by the legality of the Constitution. His statements align with previous declarations.
