Child among three Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza

Palestinian health officials reported that Israeli forces killed at least four individuals in Gaza, among them a 10-year-old girl and the son of a senior government official. According to a statement from Gaza's health ministry, the young girl died from injuries sustained in an Israeli military strike near the Nuseirat camp in Gaza's central region.

Additionally, Baseer al-Barsh, the son of Munir al-Barsh, director-general of Gaza's health ministry, was killed in an airstrike targeting a camp for displaced people in northern Gaza. Munir Al-Bursh, speaking at his son's funeral, condemned the attack as part of "Israel's ongoing crimes." Moreover, two Palestinians lost their lives and several others sustained injuries in separate strikes near Gaza City, as confirmed by Gaza's al-Shifa hospital and the territory's civil defense, a rescue agency under Hamas control.

The Israeli military has not yet provided a response to inquiries regarding these incidents. In October 2022, Israel and the United States reached a ceasefire agreement, but Israeli forces have since intensified their operations in Gaza. Since the ceasefire was announced last year, Israeli attacks have resulted in over 1,300 deaths, according to Gaza's health ministry.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to continue targeting Hamas, the group responsible for the 7 October 2023 attack on Israel, and to maintain a military presence in Gaza until Hamas surrenders its weapons. The 2023 assault claimed 1,221 lives, based on an AFP count using official Israeli data. The extensive Israeli offensive has devastated much of Gaza, leading to the deaths of over 73,800 people, a figure deemed reliable by the United Nations.
