Wike arrogant, we won’t allow him – Farouk Aliyu fires back

Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and prominent member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Farouq Aliyu, has expressed his disapproval of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The statement came during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, in response to recent tensions between the minister and the APC governors.

During a recent interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme, Wike had criticized the APC governors, dubbing them "politically lazy." This comment was a reaction to a communique released by the APC governors, in which they declared their opposition to any alliance that could jeopardize the re-election prospects of President Bola Tinubu and other candidates in the 2027 general elections.

In response to Wike's comments, Aliyu emphasized that arrogance has no place in politics. He clarified that they are not attempting to be arrogant towards the Nigerian people, but rather, they perceive Wike's behavior as such. Aliyu appreciated the role Wike played for the party in the past, and he extended an open invitation to anyone who might want to assist in strengthening the party, as was demonstrated by Wike's attempt to undermine his own party, the PDP, by supporting President Tinubu.

Aliyu firmly stated that Nyesom Wike will not be permitted to utilize the APC to establish his own political entity, the PDP. He firmly maintained that he will not permit him to enter through the back door under the guise of supporting President Tinubu.
