We will not allow Wike to bring PDP crisis into our party — APC’s Farouk

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Aliyu Farouk has stated that President Bola Tinubu is unlikely to be pleased with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, due to Wike's recent criticisms of APC governors. Farouk made this remark while responding to questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show. Wike had recently labeled certain APC governors as "politically lazy" in defense of his Rainbow Coalition, which he claimed was intended to bolster support for Tinubu's re-election in 2027.

This stance came after the APC Governors' Forum, headed by Imo State governor Hope Uzodimma, rejected any alliances that could weaken the APC or jeopardize Tinubu's re-election bid.

Farouk expressed the party's stance on the matter, indicating that while they respect Wike's right to express his views, they are not pleased with his comments about the APC governors. He emphasized that the party is working towards establishing a unified campaign structure at both the national and state levels, with governors expected to manage the party's campaign activities in their respective states.

Farouk reiterated that the party cannot prevent Wike from speaking his mind, but they are certainly unhappy with his characterization of their governors. He also questioned Wike's claim of having discussions or an agreement with President Tinubu regarding his political activities ahead of the 2027 elections. Farouk stated that the APC is not aware of any such discussions, and neither is President Tinubu privy to them.

He urged APC members to avoid engaging Wike in public disputes over the issue. "I call on my party members not to join issues with them," Farouk concluded.
