We will not allow Wike to bring PDP crisis into our party — APC’s Farouk

Farouk Aliyu, a senior figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that his party will not permit Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister and member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), to introduce discord within the APC. This statement was made during an appearance on Arise Television's Morning Show.

Wike has recently been critical of certain APC governors, labeling them as "lazy" and "419ners," and has advocated for a proposed Rainbow Coalition in support of President Bola Tinubu's re-election campaign in 2027. Farouk, speaking on the matter, emphasized that the APC would not tolerate such conduct, as Wike had previously engaged in similar disputes with the PDP.

He clarified that the issue was not personal but stressed that the party would not condone such actions within its ranks. Farouk also voiced his expectation that Tinubu would mediate the disagreement and communicate with Wike and other members of the APC leadership. He dismissed claims that party members were opposed to Wike's appointment as FCT Minister, stating that he believed Wike had performed exceptionally well in his role and that the president would likely address the situation.

Farouk confirmed that the APC members were content with Wike's performance and that the minister's position and compensation were fair. The ongoing tension between Wike and some APC leaders regarding political arrangements for the 2027 elections was also addressed, with Farouk stating that the APC governors would not support any alliance or political arrangement that could undermine Tinubu's re-election or weaken the ruling party.
