Uefa and Concacaf push for $10m payout to all 211 Fifa members

UEFA and Concacaf have urged FIFA to distribute a minimum of $10 million to every one of its 211 member associations, as reported in a letter signed by UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and Concacaf president Victor Montagliani. The two confederations contend that FIFA possesses sufficient financial resources to make a substantial one-time payment, with the organization expected to have around $6 billion in reserves by the end of the 2023-26 financial cycle.

This proposed distribution would cost FIFA approximately $2.11 billion and would occur separately from the regular funding programs. The money would be allocated for infrastructure projects and football development. The call for this distribution follows widespread opposition to FIFA's Fifa Forward Enterprise plan, which was abandoned just four days after its introduction.

The proposal would have created a new company to manage commercial and ticketing rights, with 21% potentially sold to an investment group. Infantino had promised up to $40 million per member association for support, with a September 19 deadline. However, Ceferin and Montagliani question the necessity of the proposed structure for generating additional resources for football development.

They also call for an independent review of FIFA's finances and for access to the underlying figures and assumptions used to determine the organization's financial position. The latest development adds to the mounting pressure on Infantino, who is seeking a fourth term as FIFA president in the upcoming election in March.
