Portable demands DNA test before child support for Ashabi’s children

Nigerian singer Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, has demanded DNA tests for his two children with actress Akinyanju Omobolarinde, also known as Ashabi Simple, before accepting responsibility for their upbringing. Portable expressed his demand in an Instagram Story on Friday, stating that he needed the DNA tests to ensure he could take care of the children, as he did not trust their mother.

The singer's demand emerged amidst a conflict with Ashabi over the welfare and financial support of their children. In a voice note shared online, Portable questioned the paternity of the children and requested they be taken to a hospital for DNA testing before providing additional financial assistance. He also highlighted that Ashabi's frequent absence due to film shoots raised doubts about her reliability as a caretaker.

The singer's insistence came after Ashabi accused him of failing to provide adequate financial support for their children, citing N200,000 she claimed he had given between January and September. She also noted that she had paid their school fees and taken care of their daily needs. Ashabi threatened to involve the police if Portable did not step up as their father.

In a separate message, Portable sternly told Ashabi to either raise the children herself or hand them over to him, emphasizing his refusal to accept any responsibility for their welfare. The dispute has been widely discussed on social media, with both parties exchanging accusations and allegations about their relationship and the well-being of their children.
