UEFA and CONCACAF challenge FIFA on reserves after aborted stake sale plan

UEFA and CONCACAF have urged FIFA to release a minimum of $10 million to each of its 211 member associations for the 2027-30 cycle, according to a letter sent to FIFA president Gianni Infantino. The proposed distribution would cost FIFA around $2.11 billion and would be in addition to the organization's regular funding. UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani argue that FIFA has enough accumulated reserves to make the one-time payment and that the money should be used for infrastructure and football development.

They also call for an independent review of FIFA's finances and for development funding to be treated as an institutional responsibility rather than a matter of individual discretion. The letter follows the withdrawal of the controversial FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) proposal, which aimed to create a new company to manage commercial and ticketing rights.
