(Image: Bernama) KUALA LUMPUR: Police disrupted a syndicate trafficking and processing drugs, arresting two foreign nationals in six raids in Klang Valley on Sept 10, with several types of drugs valued at RM35.24 million.
JSJN Head Hussein Omar Khan said the operations in Ampang, Petaling, Kepong, Brickfields, Subang Jaya, and Sepang also led to the arrest of 11 suspects, including six locals and two men and three women from foreign countries, aged between 25 and 48 years. He said the two foreign men, each holding Australian and Canadian passports, are believed to have acted as masterminds and chemists of the syndicate, which began active operations since January last year.
"This syndicate converted a rented villa in Ampang into a drug manufacturing facility, raids in Subang Jaya also led to the discovery of various drug manufacturing equipment, the premises reportedly being prepared to be used as a drug factory," he said during the media briefing. Hussein stated that the drug seizure involved 344.89kg of methamphetamine powder, 347.15 liters of liquid methamphetamine, 3.84kg of MDMA powder, 630g of eramin pills, and 20g of ganja, estimated to be supplied to three million users.
He said based on the amount of drugs produced, it is believed to cater to both domestic and international markets. "Police also seized 11 vehicles, one luxury watch, two ATM cards, and RM3,610 in cash, aside from a .38 caliber revolver pistol, all valued at RM1.79 million under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said.
Hussein said five suspects were detained for 13 and 14 days until Sept 23 and 24, respectively, under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while six suspects were released on bail and made police witnesses. "This success demonstrates JSJN's commitment and aggressive actions and integrity in fighting the drug threat comprehensively.
JSJN remains committed to fighting drugs to protect the present and future generations. Drugs are the number one enemy of the nation," he said.
