Police arrest 7 suspects over robbery activities in Zebilla, Garu and Binduri

The Upper East Regional Police Command has apprehended seven individuals suspected of involvement in armed robbery across Zebilla, Garu, and Binduri. The operation, spearheaded by the Police Intelligence Department, the Black Cobra Unit, and the Zebilla Community Watchdogs, led to the arrest of Issaka Iddrisu, Ali Tamimu, Akugre Amobila, Banabas Apiiga, Abdul-Rashid Adamu, Apiiga Alebena, and Bilal Adabodee.

The suspects reportedly confessed to being part of a larger gang that procures weapons for their criminal activities. Two victims related the robbery incidents to the police, revealing that the robbers took two motorcycles valued at GH¢30,000 and GH¢32,000, threatening the victims with death if they reported the crime. Subsequent investigations revealed the suspects had been supplied with weapons by an individual in Bawku, who also secured safekeeping for the gang.

The suspects' residences yielded two unregistered motorcycles, illicit drugs, and approximately GH¢29,550 in cash, suspected proceeds from their illicit activities. The seven have been transferred to police custody and are set to appear before the Bolgatanga Circuit Court on September 23, 2026. Authorities are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the unnamed weapon supplier.
