John Leguizamo, Who Made His TV Debut on Miami Vice, Reportedly Cast as the Villain in Miami Vice '85

John Leguizamo, known for his role in "The Odyssey," is set to play the main villain in the upcoming Universal film "Miami Vice '85," according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter. This period piece will delve into the glamour and corruption of mid-80s Miami, inspired by the original series pilot and first season. Leguizamo originally made his television debut on an episode of Miami Vice in 1986, but he has previously expressed disdain for the show, considering himself a "theater snob" at the time.

Despite this, he played the vengeful son of a Colombian cartel lord, Orlando Calderone, in two notable episodes of the series. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who is also set to premiere a "Director's Final Cut" of his 2006 remake of Miami Vice at Beyond Fest. The film is slated for release on May 19, 2028, with a cast that includes Michael B. Jordan, Austin Butler, Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, and Danny Ramirez.
