England beat Sri Lanka by six wickets to secure T20 series 2-0

England secured a six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in Cardiff, ensuring they sealed the T20 series ahead of the final match. Tom Banton's unbeaten 52 aided England in chasing a modest target of 146 in just 12.1 overs. Jos Buttler and Aneurin Donald opened the batting, forming a partnership of 51 in 4.3 overs before both were dismissed in quick succession.

Harry Brook chased the target, hitting three sixes in his 23-ball innings before being caught by Eshan Malinga. Banton then took charge, hitting four sixes in his 24-ball knock as England showed their dominance in the shortest format of the game this summer. Brendon McCullum's Sri Lankan side have won 22 out of their past 25 T20 matches, boasting an 88% win percentage, with India at 73%.

England's smooth performance contrasted sharply with Sri Lanka's struggles, as their openers reached 55-0 in the final overs. Liam Dawson claimed two wickets in the final over, while Jamie Overton took 2-23 and Sonny Baker delivered a tight spell of 1-15. The series continued at Old Trafford on Saturday, followed by three One-Day Internationals.

Despite an explosive start from Sri Lanka, led by Pathum Nissaka's 37-run haul, England showed their resilience and dominance, maintaining a strong lead in the series.
