John Lee delivers Policy Address

Chief Executive John Lee commenced the delivery of the Policy Address on Wednesday, emphasizing the importance of fully and faithfully implementing the One Country, Two Systems principle while safeguarding national security, development interests, and sovereignty. Following the announcement of Hong Kong's inaugural five-year plan at the Legislative Council, Lee commenced his policy speech, highlighting that maintaining national security is an ongoing endeavor.

He reiterated that even while pursuing development, neglecting national security is not an option. Lee assured that the government will continually enhance and reinforce mechanisms to protect national security. Additionally, he announced plans to expand the National Security Exhibition Gallery and intensify efforts to raise awareness regarding national security.

Lee reiterated the government's commitment to the executive-led governance model, stressing the focus on maintaining social stability and elevating citizens' well-being. He expressed hope that presenting the five-year plan and Policy Address simultaneously would enable the public to comprehend how the two documents are interconnected and how the administration intends to transform them into actionable measures by 2026.
