John Lee delivers Policy Address

Chief Executive John Lee commenced delivering the Policy Address on Wednesday, emphasizing the importance of fully and faithfully implementing the One Country, Two Systems principle and safeguarding national security, development interests, and sovereignty. He began by announcing Hong Kong's first five-year plan at the Legislative Council, then proceeded to detail his Policy Address.

Lee stressed that safeguarding national security is an ongoing process, not something that can be neglected in pursuit of development. He pledged to enhance the mechanisms in place to protect national security, and announced plans to expand the National Security Exhibition Gallery and increase efforts to raise awareness about national security.

The government, Lee stated, will continue to adhere to the executive-led governance model, coordinating efforts to maintain social stability and improve the well-being of citizens. He expressed hope that unveiling the five-year plan and the Policy Address together would help the public understand how these documents complement each other and how the government will transform them into practical measures by 2026.
