Houthi drone shot down near Mecca, Saudi-led coalition says
Saudi authorities say a drone attack, which they claim was launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels, was intercepted before it could reach the holy city of Mecca.
A drone attack allegedly launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels was intercepted and destroyed by Saudi-led coalition forces before it could reach the holy city of Mecca, according to reports. This marks the first time emergency alerts had to be issued for the religious site amid ongoing Houthi attacks in the Red Sea. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is seeking the support of Egypt amid these attacks, which have drawn the kingdom deeper into the Middle East war.
