Determined Noraqilah willing to play through pain at Asian Games

KUALA LUMPUR - Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan, a talented badminton player, has decided to participate in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games despite suffering a left ankle injury. Noraqilah, who is paired with Low Zi Yu, left for Japan on Wednesday while still recovering from the injury she sustained during a training session at the Badminton Academy of Malaysia last Thursday.

Despite the setback, the young athlete remains determined to represent her national team, expressing her willingness to play through the pain. Noraqilah's condition has shown improvement since the beginning of her injury, and she will undergo further medical assessment in Japan to monitor her progress. She has expressed slight disappointment upon initially suffering the injury but has since become more positive.

The team event is set to begin on Sunday at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium in Ichinomiya City, with Noraqilah's participation in the individual event scheduled for September 25-29. However, the decision to field Noraqilah and Low Zi Yu in the team competition remains uncertain, depending on the athletes' condition and the women's doubles chief Rosman Razak's plans.
