Thailand sweep Mongolia 3-0 in Asian Games volleyball opener

NAGOYA, Japan — On 16 September 2026, Thailand's women's volleyball team kicked off their participation in the 2026 Asian Games with a decisive 3-0 victory over Mongolia in their opening Group C match held in Nagoya, Japan. The Asian Games volleyball competition is being hosted in Nagoya from 16 to 22 September 2026.

Thailand entered the match with a strong track record against Mongolia. The two teams had faced each other three times before, and Thailand had emerged victorious in all three matches as the results were decided by straight sets.

Head coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, also known as Coach Aot, made strategic decisions by resting several key players while still putting a robust lineup on the court. This lineup included Kanyarat Khunmuang, Sasipaporn Chandavisets, Natchanicha Jaisan, Ajcharaporn Kongyot, Chatchu-on Moksri, and Kaewkalaya Kamulthala. Piyanut Pannoy took the role of the libero for Thailand.

Mongolia was led by their captain, Purevsuren Enkhkhoslen, during the match. Despite not fielding their regular veterans Pornpun Guedpard, Pimpichaya Kokram, and Thatdao Nuekjang, Thailand demonstrated exceptional control and secured a definitive straight-set win. The final score was 25-12, 25-18, and 25-18, marking Thailand's first triumph of the tournament.
