Lorry caught siphoning 2,400 litres of diesel at Senai petrol station

Johor Baru: Authorities confiscated 2,400 liters of diesel and arrested two men after a suspicious lorry fitted with storage tanks was discovered siphoning fuel at a Senai petrol station yesterday. The operation, dubbed Ops Tiris 4.0, stemmed from intelligence on the illicit use of controlled diesel supplies. Upon inspection, enforcement officers found the lorry rigged with storage tanks and tanks being filled directly from the fuel, along with a haul of 15 fleet cards, four intermediate bulk containers, a flow meter, four pumps, and two mobile phones.

The seized items, estimated to be worth RM60,660, included five receipts or invoices. It was also discovered the petrol station operator violated Sub-regulation 12A of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974 by not adhering to the Controller of Supplies' guidelines for selling controlled goods. The case falls under Section 20(1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, with violators facing fines of up to RM1 million or 3 years imprisonment, or both.

Repeat offenders face stiffer penalties of up to RM3 million, 5 years imprisonment, or both, while companies face fines of up to RM2 million for a first offense and RM5 million for subsequent offenses.
