Alleged murder: Police arrest ex-Ekiti road transport union chair, one other

The Ekiti State Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the alleged murder of 45-year-old Ogunsakin Sunday, as reported by <source 1218bbfa-412>. The suspects are Rotimi Joseph Olabiowonu, previously known as "Metilo" and the ex-chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria in Ekiti State, and his alleged accomplice, Adedoyin Opeyemi.

According to the police, on September 14, 2026, around 8:45 p.m., Metilo and approximately five other accomplices arrived at Sunday's residence in a Toyota bus. The suspects allegedly forcibly removed Sunday from his home, assaulted him, and dragged him away in the vehicle to an undisclosed location. As the vehicle was moving, the suspects reportedly pushed the victim out of the car, resulting in severe head injuries.

Sunday was subsequently taken to Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital for medical care, but he was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty. The police have launched an investigation into the incident and other alleged gang members remain at large, with the Commissioner of Police directing the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the case.
