tvOS 27 available now for Apple TV 4K, here’s everything new

Apple has released tvOS 27 for Apple TV 4K users to download now. The update is compatible with all Apple TV 4K models except the original generation, while Apple TV HD is not supported. With tvOS 27, users will find an updated Apple Podcasts app that supports video features, allowing them to watch video podcasts with a new design and sidebar navigation.

One convenient feature of tvOS 27 is the ability to update the Apple TV 4K's software directly from an iPhone using the iOS 27 Home app. Additionally, Apple Music users will gain two new features: AutoMix for more DJ-like song transitions and Hi-Res Lossless Audio for users with compatible external speaker outputs.

For those who prefer larger text sizes, Dynamic Type in the Settings app allows users to customize text sizes systemwide, making them easier to read. tvOS 27 also supports faster AirPlay connections, smoother animations and app launches, and makes Control Center more responsive.

However, there are a couple of notable omissions in this update. The new Siri AI assistant is not included, and users will only find the old Siri assistant. Additionally, Apple has not added a "Smart downloads" feature, despite mentioning it at WWDC. Rumors suggest that the new Apple TV 4K may launch with hardware upgrades that can power Siri AI, while "Smart downloads" could refer to a system-related feature, not involving individual TV shows and movies. As of now, there has been no sign of this feature in the tvOS 27 beta.
