Googlebook pre-orders start on September 21

Google has announced that pre-orders for Googlebooks will begin on September 21. The announcement came in an email blast sent to users who had signed up for updates on the Android-based platform. The devices expected to be available for pre-order include models from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Google is also expected to provide details about the full operating system and its designated name during this period.

The Magic Pointer feature, which allows users to access Gemini immediately, was highlighted in a recent teaser. This feature transforms into the light bar that will be the main branding element on all Googlebooks. The name "Googlebooks" will only appear on the left palm rest just below the keyboard. It remains unclear how long the pre-order period will last before devices are shipped, but the launch is anticipated to coincide with the holiday shopping season.
