Russian drone hits train near Ukraine-Poland border soon after visiting dignitaries passed through

A Russian drone attacked a train near the Ukraine-Poland border on Sunday, just after high-profile visiting officials—including former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt—passed through, according to Ukraine's state rail operator, Ukrzaliznytsia. The diplomatic train carrying Johnson, Bildt, and security advisers from multiple EU nations had left the Yahodyn station ahead of schedule before the attack.

Ukrzaliznytsia stated that it is "highly probable" that the Russian drone's primary target was the diplomatic train, which had departed the station earlier than planned. Former Swedish PM Bildt shared a video on X showing the attack at Yahodyn station, near the border crossing with Poland. He noted that the train was evacuated as the Russian drone approached and that no one was injured, praising the train's safety system.
