Russian drone hits train near Ukraine-Poland border soon after visiting dignitaries passed through

On Sunday, a Russian drone attacked a train near the Ukraine-Poland border shortly after high-ranking officials – including former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt – had passed through, according to Ukraine’s state rail operator, Ukrzaliznytsia. The diplomatic train, which included security advisers from several European Union states, had left the Yahodyn station ahead of schedule for a return journey from a security conference in Kyiv.

Ukraine’s state rail operator stated in a Telegram post that it is highly probable that the Russian drone’s intended target was the diplomatic train, which had departed the station earlier than planned. Former Swedish PM Carl Bildt shared a video on X, noting that the train had been evacuated as the Russian drone approached, and no one was injured.

He emphasized the safety measures in place, stating that their train had experienced an evacuation shortly after the drone's approach.
