Mir Raza murder case: Police surgeon says she received 'threats' after disputing first autopsy findings

Karachi Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed testified before a judicial commission regarding the murder case of young businessman Mir Raza Ali. The 25-year-old victim's family believes he was tortured and murdered, accusing police of covering up the facts. Dr Syed alleged she faced threats after challenging the initial autopsy findings.

The case gained notoriety when Dr Syed pointed out discrepancies between the first medico-legal report and photographs. Ali's body was exhumed following her request, and a second autopsy conducted by a medical board found evidence of multiple injuries before his death, ruling out suicide. Dr Syed stated she received threats from a motorcycle following her communication with law enforcers about the case.

The commission requested the victim's family to leave the room due to the disturbing nature of photographs presented, including a mark on Ali's head, a broken nose bone, and evidence of acid burns. Dr Syed presented her findings, noting the inconsistencies with the first autopsy and asserting the importance of her actions in future cases.
