Man, 21, killed in animal attack on Manitoba First Nation

A 21-year-old man was killed in an animal attack on the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation in northwestern Manitoba on Wednesday. Authorities are investigating the suspicious death, which was reported on Monday. The man's body was discovered on a community road near the southeast shore of Dawson Bay. Following an autopsy, the preliminary cause of death was determined to be an animal attack, though the specific type of animal has not yet been identified.

The results of the autopsy have been shared with conservation officers. Earlier this weekend, a social media post circulated claiming a bear had killed a nearly 300-pound man in Pelican Rapids, describing a terrifying encounter in the darkness. The Sapotaweyak Cree Nation is situated approximately 600 kilometers northwest of Winnipeg.
