macOS Golden Gate Now Available With Siri AI, Visual Intelligence and More

Apple has launched the latest macOS version, macOS Golden Gate 27, featuring several new capabilities. This free update is available on all Macs with Apple silicon chips. Users can download the update through the Software Update section in System Settings.

The update introduces Siri AI, a more advanced version of Apple's voice assistant, complete with a dedicated Siri app. Siri AI is integrated into Spotlight, allowing users to search for information on various topics directly from their system. It can pull data from messages, mail, photos, and more, and can also perform actions across apps upon command. Users can revisit past conversations using the new Siri app, which syncs across all Apple devices via iCloud.

Visual Intelligence, a new feature, enables users to select a screen area and ask Siri questions or initiate actions based on the content displayed. Keyboard shortcut Command-Shift-Space allows quick access to this feature.

For photo editing, the update includes intelligent tools such as Spatial Reframing to reframe photos and the Extend tool to expand images. Enhanced Clean Up allows for more realistic background removal even in complex scenes.

Safari has also seen updates, including automatic grouping of tabs by topic, a Notify Me feature to alert users of changes on web pages, and Describe an Extension for creating custom extensions via natural language. Users can also automate tasks with Describe a Shortcut, allowing the creation of custom shortcuts based on simple descriptions.

In terms of design, the updated Liquid Glass offers improved readability and customizable appearance through a new slider, ranging from ultra-clear to fully tinted. Uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars, and more detailed app icons further enhance the visual appeal.

Lastly, macOS Golden Gate introduces enhanced child safety features, including Ask to Browse, which requires children to request permission before visiting new websites, and expanded Communication Safety to protect conversations. Time Allowances offer flexible app usage management based on expert research tailored to a child's age, while Schedules help manage app access times throughout the day and week.
