'Youth chapter needed for SAR's five-year blueprint'

The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups has urged the government to include a chapter on youth development in the city's five-year plan, according to a think tank established by the federation. The Youth IDEAS survey, conducted in July, polled over 650 young people and discovered that more than 60 percent believe the blueprint is pertinent to their personal growth.

The majority of respondents prioritized individuals' livelihoods and social development. Living expenses, housing costs, and job market competition also ranked high on their concerns. Over 60 percent of participants felt authorities lacked sufficient communication on youth policies. John Poon, the think tank's convenor for youth development and engagement, emphasized that young people are integral to the SAR's progress and implored authorities to bolster youth development.

Poon advocated for a specific youth chapter in the five-year blueprint to demonstrate the government's commitment to investing in young individuals. He also suggested creating a youth-friendly zone in the Northern Metropolis to attract young residents.
