Wan Rosdy: Umno’s young leaders take grassroots push to nearly 50,000 first-time voters

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 — Young leaders from the Umno Patriotic School (SPU) have successfully connected with nearly 50,000 first-time voters during the recent state elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan. Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail revealed that 100 'Patriots' were deployed across 50 state constituencies in Johor, while 50 Patriots handled voter engagement in 25 constituencies in Negeri Sembilan.

Wan Rosdy emphasized that these SPU youths are actively involved in the Umno struggle, moving beyond just attending party functions.

The SPU, launched in January 2025, has already produced over 200 young leaders through five series, with the sixth series slated to commence soon. Wan Rosdy highlighted that the selection of participants for subsequent series will be conducted with great care to ensure that the SPU continues to nurture quality young leaders who can contribute to the party's cause.

To strengthen the "Blue Malaysia Agenda" (Agenda Malaysia Biru) introduced by Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Wan Rosdy proposed four 'BLUE' approaches. These include nurturing relationships with voters, not just during elections, and providing assistance through service, trust, and problem resolution. The third approach focuses on winning the hearts of the people through tangible work, language that resonates with the people, and leadership that understands their needs.

Lastly, Wan Rosdy emphasized the importance of changing the perception of Umno to foster wider support.
