President Donald Trump's childhood home sells for $2 million

New York: Donald Trump's childhood residence has recently been sold for nearly $2 million following a substantial renovation that transformed the once-mold-ridden and cat-infested property into a modern, luxurious dwelling. The home, a Tudor-style estate in Queens' affluent Jamaica Estates neighborhood, was built in 1940 by Trump's father, developer Fred Trump. The family resided there until the president was four years old.

The property was purchased by Tommy Lin, a developer, for $835,000 in the prior year after sitting vacant and neglected for years. Lin invested an additional $500,000 into the eight-month interior overhaul, which included a chef's kitchen, herringbone wood floors, and spa-like bathrooms. The home has changed hands multiple times in recent years, including a significant sale of $2.14 million months after Trump's presidency began in 2017.

Initially listed for rent on Airbnb in 2017, the property was later put back up for sale in 2019 with an asking price of $2.9 million, but remained unsold. The current owner, who remains anonymous, acquired the property in July after the buyer entered a contract. The home has faced several challenges, such as water damage, mold from a burst pipe, and a colony of feral cats taking residence during its period of disrepair.

As president, Donald Trump has been actively involved in the residential overhaul of the White House, adding a massive ballroom and incorporating opulent fixtures that reflect his signature style.
