Over 31,000 evacuated as heavy rain lashes China's Hainan province

In the past few days, Hainan Province in China has been struck by heavy rain, prompting the evacuation of over 31,000 residents from risk areas. As of Sunday evening, 31,564 people had been relocated, with no significant disasters reported. The rain brought unprecedented 300 millimeters of rainfall in 24 townships across six cities and counties, with Changfeng Township in Wanning hitting the highest at 452.1 millimeters.

The flooding has led to the activation of emergency responses across the affected regions, with Wanning reaching Level I, the highest in China's four-tier emergency response system. Schools have been closed, and several tourist attractions have been shut down. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and preparing for further rainfall expected from Sunday evening to Monday.
