Ignore Umno pressure for early elections, Mujahid urges Anwar

Amanah deputy president Mujahid Yusof Rawa has urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to disregard Umno's pressure for early elections. Mujahid asserted that the government is unlikely to abandon its policy initiatives due to Umno's demands. The current government's term concludes near the year-end, so focusing on policies, particularly economic and social well-being, should remain a priority.

Mujahid emphasized that the government is not inclined to sacrifice these initiatives due to Umno's election pressure. Meanwhile, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi sparked controversy by suggesting Pakatan Harapan's critics dissolve Parliament. However, at a subsequent press conference, Zahid reaffirmed Umno's commitment to the ruling coalition until its term ends in December 2027.

The unity government, formed in 2022, operates under specific conditions and welcomes parties' decisions to exit. Mujahid noted that Anwar isn't planning to oust any parties but will not prevent them from leaving if they choose to do so.
