Jangan layan desakan Umno untuk PRU awal, Mujahid gesa Anwar

Mujahid Yusof Rawa, Deputy President of Amanah, condemned the call from Umno to hold a premature general election, insisting the government did not have enough time to resolve the main issues facing the people. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged against giving in to Umno's demand for an early election, as there are still significant matters to address, particularly in the economy and welfare of the nation.

Deputy President Mujahid highlighted that the remaining period of the government's administration until the end of 2027 provides a crucial window for the government to tackle its top priorities. He stated that Amanah remains committed to completing the current term of government, which is why it cannot prioritize an early election just because Umno is urging it.

The Deputy President's words were reported by Sinar Harian following the briefing of the Raji Survey Institute. In a meeting with Umno, Presidennya Zahid Hamidi challenged those criticizing Umno to formally expel the party from the government. However, following a press briefing, Zahid, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, reiterated Umno's pledge to remain in the government until the end of the political term.

The current unity government was formed in 2022 based on mutual agreement and conditions, but if any party wants to leave, it is subject to their own decision. Anwar expressed his unwillingness to remove any party, but he would not prevent anyone from leaving if they choose to do so.
