Europe: Yusuf delighted as Gwarzo emerges Hausa community Chancellor

The Hausa Community in Europe has bestowed upon Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo the prestigious title of Chancellor, acknowledging his significant contributions to the promotion of Hausa culture, language, and the welfare of Hausa communities across Europe. This honor was revealed by the Emir of the Hausa Community in Europe, Alhaji Surajo Jankado, at the International Hausa Day celebration in Paris, France.

The Emir highlighted the appointment as a crucial milestone in enhancing unity and progress within the Hausa community in Europe. Professor Gwarzo, in his acceptance remarks, expressed gratitude towards the Hausa Community's leadership for recognizing his worthiness for the position. He pledged to collaborate with stakeholders to advance the Hausa language, culture, identity, and unity among Hausa people residing in Europe.

The new role will enable him to contribute to initiatives aimed at preserving Hausa heritage and ensuring younger generations stay connected to their language, culture, and values. Professor Gwarzo further emphasized the need for increased collaboration among Hausa communities across European nations, stressing the importance of unity, education, and cultural preservation.

The celebration of International Hausa Day brought together Hausa community members, traditional leaders, academics, cultural advocates, and other stakeholders to honor the language, culture, and heritage of the Hausa people. Kano state Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by his spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, acknowledged Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo's meritorious service to the community, both in Europe and Nigeria.

Governor Yusuf praised Prof. Gwarzo's unwavering dedication to promoting the Hausa language and culture over the years. He congratulated Prof. Gwarzo alongside Nigeria's Minister of Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmed, Nigeria's Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Dr. Hajjo Sani, and Iyaloja (Chief) Alaja Mufeedah Folashade Bola Tunubu, who were bestowed with turbans at the 2026 International Hausa Day in Paris.
