Australian tourist dies after falling from beach cliff on island near Bali

An Australian tourist has tragically passed away after falling from a steep cliff at Kelingking Beach on Nusa Penida island, located near Bali. Kelingking Beach is a beloved tourist destination, renowned for its picturesque views and iconic lookout known as T-Rex Beach. The incident occurred on Saturday morning when the woman, estimated to have fallen around 9am, was found stranded on the southern side of the cliff.

Emergency services were alerted but were unable to reach her in time, as she had already slipped and plummeted into the ravine. The victim was discovered by authorities on the beach and subsequently transported up the steep and narrow stairs to the Kelingking Beach viewing area. A subsequent medical examination revealed that she had sustained multiple fractures and other injuries.

Despite construction of a 182-metre elevator down to the beach being suspended due to local opposition, the tragic loss of this visitor serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers inherent in such breathtaking yet perilous natural wonders.
