Kaysliky opens up on unpaid gigs, price of fame

Gospel-juju singer Kaysliky, whose real name is Adebisi Solomon, has discussed the financial hardships he encountered at the beginning of his music career and the impact of fame on his life. During his early days, Kaysliky often performed at lounges without receiving any payment, relying solely on money tossed by the audience. He recalled, "Starting out was tough.

There were moments I’d perform at lounges that wouldn’t pay performance fees, insisting I rely on money sprayed by the audience. Frequently, after playing all night, we’d earn less than N50,000. Covering the cost of sound equipment and settling my band members felt nearly impossible." Kaysliky faced rejection from some established colleagues even after releasing his 2019 single, Appreciation.

However, he credited his band and close friends for keeping him committed to his career during this trying period. Before achieving stardom, Pastor warned entertainers against the desperate pursuit of fame. Kaysliky highlighted that his increased public recognition had negatively affected his privacy and freedom to move around his community.

He said, "Stardom takes away your privacy," adding that he could no longer engage in everyday activities without crowds gathering. Kaysliky is currently preparing for his flagship event, Kaysliky Live in Concert, sparked by fans' demand for a major live performance.
