Construction of new Wa airport to commence soon – Mahama assures

President John Dramani Mahama has assured the people of Upper West Region that construction of a new airport in Wa will commence shortly. After visiting the site for the project, Mahama stated that the existing Wa airport is no longer suitable for modern aviation needs and a new facility is necessary. The President explained that the Ghana Airports Company has secured the necessary funding to implement the project, and government is not currently seeking additional funding as the required resources have already been allocated.

Mahama also revealed that the procurement process has been completed and contractors have been selected, paving the way for construction to begin in the near future. This new airport is part of the government's broader initiative to enhance domestic air transport and improve aviation infrastructure across the country.
