PH prepared to go solo in Melaka polls, says acting state PKR chief

Pakatan Harapan (PH) is ready to contest the Melaka state election on its own if no formal talks with Barisan Nasional (BN) occur, according to Adam Adli, the acting chief of PH's Malaysian Umno-linked faction in the state, PKR. Despite the absence of negotiations, PH remains prepared to take on all the seats it had previously contested in Melaka, as reported by Bernama. Adli emphasized that the decision to negotiate or not is a matter of choice for each party, and they all have the right to make their own decisions.

Adli, while officiating the closing ceremony of the Kampung Angkat Madani programme in Melaka, said that political competition should not disrupt the harmony among communities in the state. He highlighted that PH assemblymen have been cooperating with the state government for over three years since the formation of the unity government.

Adli stressed that, although PH and BN are allies at the federal level, their relationship has deteriorated since BN formed a pact with PN in the Negeri Sembilan election, leading to a two-thirds majority win for BN. The mandate of the Melaka government is set to expire on December 31, and both PH and the opposition Perikatan Nasional (PN) are aiming to form an alliance with BN, which currently holds 20 of the 28 state seats.
