Ukraine Won’t Trade Territories, And Concessions To Russia Will Only Delay A New War — Zelenskyy At Yalta European Strategy Meeting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made it clear during his address at the Yalta European Strategy meeting that Ukraine will not cede any of its territories in exchange for a temporary ceasefire. Zelenskyy warned that any concessions to Russia would merely delay a future, more intense wave of aggression. He urged international partners to supply Ukraine with a substantial number of advanced air defense systems, combat aircraft, and long-range weaponry, emphasizing that joint protection of airspace and the capability to retaliate would compel Russia to pursue genuine peace.

Zelenskyy stressed the urgency of bolstering Ukraine's defenses, particularly air defense, ammunition, and financial support for American missiles like Patriot and AIM systems. He also highlighted the importance of developing Ukraine's own air defense capabilities in the long-term. Beyond immediate defense measures, Zelenskyy stressed the need to build a robust system for sky protection, applicable both during and after the conflict.

This includes fostering our own military, enhancing partnerships with Europe, the US, and Canada. Notably, Ukraine and Canada have signed a 100-year partnership agreement, encompassing defense and support for Ukraine's Armed Forces, recently concluded during Zelenskyy's visit to Canada. Canada pledged to bolster energy and defense aid to Kyiv, join the Freyja program, and maintain sanctions on Russia.
