Indonesia calls for stronger domestic resilience at the 18th BRICS

In a National Statement at the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to present his vision for inclusive global growth. The Prime Minister, who is also Malaysia’s Finance Minister, will emphasize the significance of enhancing cooperation among Brics member and partner nations to tackle development challenges, broaden economic opportunities, and guarantee that the advantages of technological progress and innovation are shared more equitably across all countries.

This participation marks Malaysia’s status as a Brics partner country, a role it has held since January 1, 2025.

Accompanying Anwar are Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan. Following the summit, the Prime Minister will take part in a family photo with Brics leaders, partners, and outreach invitees before journeying to Kozhikode, Kerala, for the second part of his Indian tour.

In Kerala, he will converse with the Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, to discuss themes of community development, educational progress, and interfaith concord.

During his visit, Anwar is scheduled to meet with Kerala’s Chief Minister Thiru V. D. Satheesan and Governor Thiru Rajendra Vishwanath Arleka. The discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral ties between Malaysia and Kerala in areas such as trade, investment, tourism, healthcare, and education. On September 14, Anwar will proceed to the Maldives.
