Indonesia calls for stronger domestic resilience at the 18th BRICS

NEW DELHI, September 13 — In his capacity as Malaysia's Finance Minister, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to address the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit today, outlining the nation's perspective on fostering inclusive global growth. During his address, Anwar is anticipated to underscore the significance of bolstering collaboration among Brics member countries and their partners in addressing development hurdles, broadening economic prospects, and guaranteeing a more equitable distribution of technological progress and innovation throughout all nations.

Malaysia assumes this role as a Brics partner country, having assumed this position since January 1, 2025. Accompanying Anwar at the summit are Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan. Prior to the summit, Anwar will participate in a family photograph with Brics leaders, partners, and outreach invitees.

Following the summit, he will travel to Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala, India, for the second phase of his Indian visit. During his stay in Kerala, Anwar will engage in discussions with the Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, on matters related to community development, educational progress, and interfaith harmony. The Prime Minister is also arranged to meet with Kerala's Chief Minister Thiru V. D. Satheesan and Governor Thiru Rajendra Vishwanath Arleka.

Their meetings aim to enhance bilateral partnerships between Malaysia and Kerala in crucial areas like trade and investment, tourism, healthcare, and education. On September 14, Anwar is slated to depart for the Maldives.
