Staying in govt until end of term will hurt Umno, says party veteran

Umno veteran Adam Abdul Hamid at the party's annual general assembly urged party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to push for an early general election. He warned that maintaining the current government until its term ends could severely harm Umno. Speaking on behalf of Umno veterans, Hamid advised the party to realign Malay-Muslim political forces, emphasizing unity over power distribution.

He cautioned that focusing solely on power would lead to infighting and eventual division. Instead, the parties should identify areas of collaboration, such as addressing economic issues impacting the Malay community. The resolution presented by Umno veterans also called for the party to lead efforts in realigning Malay-Muslim political forces based on the Federal Constitution, people's interests, and national stability.

They expressed concern over perceived political pressure from Pakatan Harapan against Umno and its leaders, urging members to remain united in the face of growing attacks as the party grows stronger.
