Staying in govt until end of term will hurt Umno, says party veteran

Adam Abdul Hamid, an Umno veteran, urged party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to seek an early general election at the Umno general assembly. He warned that remaining in government until the end of its term could severely damage Umno. According to the resolution from Umno veterans, the party should realign Malay-Muslim political forces based on the Federal Constitution, people's interests, and national stability.

Prolonged political divisions would weaken Malays' bargaining power and allow others to dictate the nation's political agenda. The veterans expressed concern over perceived political pressure from Pakatan Harapan against Umno and its leaders, and urged party members to remain united. They cautioned that as Umno grows stronger, attacks against it would intensify, making unity its most important defense.
