NIS extends UK special passport intervention exercise

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has extended its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom until October 3, 2026. This extension was approved by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in response to a high turnout of Nigerians in London and Manchester.

Since the exercise commenced, 1,477 Nigerians have been successfully processed and enrolled, with over half already having their passports produced and sent to their homes. The extension aims to provide additional capacity and ensure that as many eligible applicants as possible are attended to.

Applicants must book appointments via the High Commission of Nigeria, United Kingdom's website. They need to bring a completed application form, payment receipt, appointment slip, current passport (if applicable), and a self-addressed return envelope. The passport application and payment processes are fully automated and cashless. The applicable fees are $162 for a 5-year validity passport booklet and $242 for a 10-year validity booklet.
