Musiala returns to help Bayern sink Bodo in Champions League

MUNICH: Jamal Musiala netted the first goal and Michael Olise contributed two strikes as Bayern Munich dominated Bodo-Glimt 5-0 in a Champions League match on Thursday. Harry Kane and Alphonso Davies added to the tally, but Musiala's performance shone brightest after his return to the lineup. The Germany forward had missed two games due to a neurological issue that forced him to collapse during pre-season friendlies.

Musiala expressed his joy in scoring on his comeback, stating he simply wanted to play well again and return to his level with ease, joy, and fun. Harry Kane commended Musiala, noting that the player had a challenging start to the season but felt proud of his achievement. The victory extended Bayern's impressive streak of 24 straight Champions League wins since 2002.

Bodo, a surprise package last season reaching the last 16, fought hard but faltered in the second half, ultimately losing Odin Bjortuft to a red card with three minutes remaining. Musiala was among three changes Bayern made from the previous Saturday's 0-0 draw against Schalke, joining back from the bench with Kane and Olise. Bayern struggled initially against Bodo's defensive structure, failing to create many clear-cut chances.

Musiala seized an opportunity after a blocked Kane effort, scoring the opening goal. Kane added another just after the hour mark, extending his Champions League scoring run to eight matches in a row. Bayern finished strongly in the final 15 minutes, with Davies scoring a spectacular long-range shot and Olise following with a brilliant 25-yard strike, finishing in stoppage time to cap a dominant second-half display.
