Apple entered a shrinking market with the Duo, where global foldable smartphone shipments fell 15% in the first half of 2026. Huawei, the market leader in foldables, countered the launch with its own Mate XT2, priced around 3000 dollars in China. IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo predicts Apple's launch will revive the category, with ten million foldable iPhones sold and 27 billion dollars in sales within the first year.

Apple refreshed its top models, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, while keeping their traditional designs. The new models feature the strongest chip yet, the longest battery life in the series' history, and Apple's largest camera update. Prices for models below the foldable Duo increased, with the iPhone 18 Pro starting at 1199 dollars and the Pro Max at 1299 dollars, both 100 dollars more than their predecessors.
