Several dead in Dutch coach crash in Switzerland

A coach carrying Dutch tourists collided with a safety barrier and overturned in eastern Switzerland, resulting in fatalities and injuries, according to local police. The incident occurred around 4:45pm between the towns of Susch and Zernez in Graubunden canton. The coach, operated by tour company Oad, was transporting 48 passengers from the Netherlands.

ANVR, the Dutch Federation of Travel Agencies, confirmed the identities of the passengers as Dutch. The coach departed the Netherlands on Monday and was on a day trip to Switzerland from Austria when the accident took place. Swiss media footage showed numerous rescue workers and helicopters at the scene. Oad expressed deep shock and condolences to all involved and their families.

Swiss President Guy Parmelin offered his condolences, describing the incident as a tragic accident. The authorities are working diligently to assess the situation and provide support to those affected.
